5 Ways the Polar Plunge Can Help Your Penis and More!

Written by: Dr. Joshua Gonzalez

Unless you live somewhere like Santa Monica or Miami Beach, winters can be brutal. The last thing we want to do after a day of trekking through the sleet and snow or shredding on the slopes is take a cold shower! We want to warm up with a near-scalding shower or bath. Or so one would think!

You may have heard of the Polar Plunge, a charitable event held during winter where participants enter a body of water despite bitter temperatures. Usually, people do this once annually, sometimes to ring in the New Year. However, there is evidence that we may want to increase the frequency of this frigid activity. It doesn’t have to be as extreme as jumping in the ocean; a cold shower or bath will do! Polar Plunge, Cold Plunge, Cold Water Therapy, or just cold showers may have numerous benefits. Not just for your sexual health but your overall health as well. That’s right, you guessed it! Popstar is here with the tips (and not just the tip) on how cold plunging can do wonders for your stiffy!

Libido

If you have been following our Popstar blog journey, you know that we aren’t just experts on busting nuts; we also bust myths. Today, we are debunking the cold shower sex myth. There is an age-old wives’ tale that cold showers reduce arousal. A cold shower is said to hose you down when you are hot and bothered. Well, consider this myth Popstar-level busted.

Believe it or not, Rydell High’s resident bad girl, Rizzo, was wrong. You don’t have to “take cold showers every day and throw [your] life away. As it turns out, cold showers can positively impact your life. Recent studies reveal that cold water may increase testosterone levels, thereby improving libido. For those of us who aren’t familiar with the word libido, it is just a fancy word for sex drive. Check out our blog post to learn more about your libido and the factors that affect it.

Believe it or not, research has shown that just one cold bath can increase testosterone levels. Researchers from the University of Tokyo found that one 10-minute session of submerging the body in cold water improves testosterone levels by as much as 15%. Research also reported that the longer the bath, the higher the levels. Higher levels of testosterone can improve overall sexual function, like combating erectile dysfunction. So, we know that a soak in low temperatures equals higher testosterone and higher sexual performance, but what else can it do?

Immune System

In winter, there is so much to look forward to: Christmas, Chanukah, Kwanza, New Year’s, and Valentine’s Day. It truly is the holiday season! But it is also cold and flu season (with an added COVID-19 variant cherry on top). Magic is in the air, but so are germs. You will want to make sure your immune system is in tip-top shape. That is where cold showers and ice baths come into play. Bathing your balls in baltic water can bolder your immune system. Cold water helps to stimulate the immune cells that fight off viruses and infections. A study in the Netherlands found that people who showered in cold water in increments of 30, 60, and 90 seconds for 90 days called out of work almost 30% less than those who didn’t. A cold shower a day could keep the common cold at bay, keeping you healthy as a horse this winter!

Circulation

A bitter cold bath isn’t just great for boosting your immune system; it can also help to get your blood pumping. Extreme conditions like cold water are strenuous on the body. When you take a cold shower or bath, your body has to work overtime to maintain its core temperature, stimulating your body to increase blood circulation. Increased circulation allows freshly oxygenated blood to travel to parts of the body that need it most. The boost in blood flow can reduce recovery time for muscles post-exercise.  Increased blood flow to your penis may also help improve erectile function.

Inflammation

While we are on the topic of blood, cold temperatures also cause your vessels to restrict, causing your blood to move to your vital organs, oxygenating the blood. Once your body warms up and the blood vessels expand again, blood returns to your tissues. As the blood flows back, it flushes out inflammation, preventing muscle soreness.

Increase Metabolism

Did you know being cold can burn? Burn calories, that is. While your body tries to regulate its temperature, it expels energy, resulting in a small amount of calorie burn and increased metabolism. However, cold showers are not a substitute for other healthy habits like yoga or a run on the treadmill. But as we indulge in our favorite holiday treats this season,  it is nice to know that our metabolism has a little help!

Embrace your inner Elsa this winter and prove that the cold never bothered you anyway! Cold showers, Polar Plunges, or however you want to incorporate cold water therapy into your life, make sure you are shivering. Cold water may help your cock and so much more this holiday season and beyond!
